About Mark:

I came to breathwork attempting to find solutions to problems I was experiencing. My background is as a musician. I am a composer and performer, spending long hours sat at a desk and working at the computer, carrying heavy kit to venues, pushing myself to keep improving my art via perfectionist tendencies. Decades of this lifestyle led to chronic anxiety and inflammatory pain.

 

My search to find ways to manage my symptoms led me to the Oxygen Advantage, which is an evidence-based approach to breathwork that focuses on three dimensions of breathing: biochemistry, biomechanics, and psychophysiology.

 

Our breath is ubiquitous. How we think and how we feel affects how we breathe. And so, it follows that how we breathe can affect how we feel and how we think. I found ways to gain control over my own symptoms and I now share those methods with those who need them.

 

I work with clients to improve their sense of wellbeing by guiding them through a series of tailored breathing exercises and providing breath-based tools that can be used in everyday scenarios. The exercises are easy to learn, don’t require a huge time commitment, and can have a profound effect on both physical and mental health.

 

I work with a variety of clients. Many of them are in good physical health but want to improve their sleep quality, or to learn new ways to relax, and to reduce symptoms of stress and anxiety. Others have impaired lung function, and my techniques can be particularly effective for asthmatics and people who struggle with breathlessness or hyperventilation.

 

As an Advanced Instructor of the Oxygen Advantage method, I can also work with athletes to help improve performance through high-intensity breathing exercises that simulate the effects of training at high altitude whilst remaining at sea level.

 

I work 1-1 and with groups, both in-person and on Zoom. I also run a weekly free-to-attend online breathwork group, details are on my website.
